Description
Phase 1 kit is our "Starter" kit for the RWD Honda 1.5T engine swap for the BMW E30 chassis.
For this swap kit, you will need to source a 2016+ Honda Civic 1.5L Turbo engine. It can be Si or Non-Si models.
Honda has recently raised prices on many of their engine components, so we highly recommend sourcing an engine with most of the accessories such as the starter, alternator, MAFS, etc.
Why L15 over a Kseries engine?
In short, if you are looking for 400whp+ we would recommend going with the Kseries engines.
If you are considering to do a NA Kswap on your E30, this may be a much better alternative.
Our E30 was NA Kswapped and put down 224whp and 178tq. As you'd assume, the power didn't really come on until 5000+ RPM. On the street, that's not the most fun setup, as we experienced.
With the L15b7, our car makes 250whp and 250tq at the power comes on around 2800 RPM, and just pulls to redline. This is a riot! So much fun to drive!
Our car weighed in with the Kswap at around 2450 pounds, and with the L15 swap our car weighs in just around 2300 pounds! Near perfect 50/50 weight distribution.
Did we mention that compared to the Kseries there is hardly any vibrations?
